And It Slips Away Again

Well, it did look like a possibility for a mere second there. They beat Philly twice, then get clobbered by a Sabres team which clearly outclassed the Leafs. What happened to the drive and determination they showed the previous two games?

Mats off with a pulled groin spells disaster at this point, not to mention Nik being out as well. Nothing like losing your two highest scorers at this time of the year. Yes, CBC can go on about how well they've done in the past with Mats out of the lineup, but that obviously didn't translate against the Sabres.

Still stuck in 12th, with an unlikely climb coming. It will be a long shot at best methinks, doubtful that they can beat some of these other teams that seem to want it a tad more. Washington seems to have more of a chance at this point, and kudos to them, they deserve it.

All I can do is wait for the inevitable golf season to come for my team. It does seem to be in the cards, but does anyone really care? People will still flock to the ACC in droves to see this team, and I'm really starting to believe that they don't care about making the playoffs. This just seems to be a big joke, and nobody is really doing anything. If you want something done, do it yourself, stop going!

I'd almost suggest to bring back Pat Quinn, at least with him they 'made' the playoffs!

wha..

No, this won't be a gardening blog, I've had limited success in that field, and cannot bother to write about it. This is more about another Leaf, one that has been falling of late, and I've not seen anyone with a rake to make that stop.

The blog will be about a certain NHL hockey team known as The Toronto Maple Leafs, and talk about why I am still a fan (although I've had nothing to really cheer about of late).

This really started as a way to vent for me, and started after the recent trade deadline came and went. I watched nothing of any use really happen there, other than a few not-so-important player get moved to another not-so-important team. Was anything set in motion to actually improve the situation for The leafs? Probably not. It seems to be the same old song and dance, filled with excuses for this and that, and the usual "wait until next year" comments. I for one, am becoming fairly tired of "waiting for next year". I'll be old and crusty before anything gets done here. The only thing I can see to improve this team is to boycott going to games entirely. A half full arena will be the only thing to actually motivate the ownership to make moves that are necessary to improve this team to a Stanley Cup contender.

I've also seen a lot of Sundin bashing of late, and that frankly pisses me off. Sundin has done everything possible for this team, and has gotten nothing in return. He has been given substandard line mates, which on 'decent teams' you would not see. It seems everyone wants his heads for not waiving his no trade clause, but then, why should he? Contracts handed out by the team should be honored, and he obviously felt despite what transpires in Toronto, he would want to remain a Leaf. I , for one, find that an admirable trait. I'll go more into that later on, and I'm sure everyone will have something to say about it.

This was more or less to get the ball rolling here, and wanted to get something up to start this blog up. You'll find I'll write what i feel, and some of you might not like that, oh well! This is here for me to vent, and if you want to waste your time reading it, then that's your fault. I will engage in intelligent comments, anything else will be deleted.
